Wow… what a day!

Posted on 01 May 2007 by Nate Dunlap

Silverlight was amazing… definitely gonna be getting my head in this space more… Actually really excited that Silverlight 1.0 is in Beta and has a summer timeframe for us to start developing real world solutions… Hopefully our existing WPF experience will really drum up the Silverlight client work at IdentityMine… I know both Robby and I are really excited about it.. Im lucky enough to work with Robby so that the importance of what we saw today in the keynotes was able to sink in based on his excitement.

Amazing demos… Well done MS.. Silverlight team you guys are doing an awesome job… Dont stop though I want you to ship this baby ASAP.

Our comic talk went off well today. Robby is an amazing showman and dev and designer and pm and he is a pretty great family guy too… Definitely my hero this week… The stuff I learn by being around him and watching how he builds stuff. We were working on the comic talk for Mix and I was being blown away by the decisions he was making about how to build up our data model. Very cool stuff. Data models are something that designers should care about… Mostly because good ones stand between you and your ability to design/assemble great apps.

Here is a blog post from Adam Kinney reviewing our talk and a pic on flickr

Thanks for the warm review Adam.

Now we just gotta get robby to get us the source that he demonstrated building on stage so yall can be building your own comic reading experience with WPF and blendables. Of course Robby has totally earned getting to enjoy the rest of the conference.

Be sure to catch Josh Wagoner and Jonathan Russ’s  talk tomorrow “Lessons Learned: Designer/Developer Productivity in Windows Presentation Foundation”… Gonna be a good one… These guys are some of the smartest guys Ive met. You should see what these guys can do.

Other excitement from the day… We had an unbelievable dinner with the “who’s who” in MS presentation technologies inside and outside of MS… Was great to see a bunch of my previous coworkers there, meet up with other companies that we have worked closely with, and get to meet some fantastic new faces. It was great to be able to get excited with you all and talk shop, show off our latest work with blendables and have a great meal together. Kudos to IdentityMine for pulling this off… Tonight was a moment to remember!
